Event Recap: An Evening with Ohio State Coach Brian Hartline
Jun 2, 2022The Ohio State Alumni Club of Greater Cleveland presented an evening with Brian Hartline, Ohio State passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach, at Windows on the River on April 12, 2022.
Ohio State President Dr. Kristina M. Johnson was originally scheduled to speak but had a last-minute schedule conflict and graciously sent Coach Hartline.
A former Ohio State football player, Hartline was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft and also played for the Cleveland Browns.
Coach Hartline shared the story about how he got into coaching, talked about some team and player experiences, and emphasized the importance of scholarships.
Marvin Davies of Cleveland, a former Ohio State football player and recipient of an Ohio State Alumni Club of Greater Cleveland scholarship, spoke about how his scholarship allowed him to pursue his dream.
“My scholarship allowed me to pick my dream school, not the school most financially affordable,” said Davies. “It allowed me to accomplish a childhood dream of playing football for the best school in the country, exposed me to outstanding professors who challenge me every day to produce my best work, and it gave me the freedom and flexibility to find my passion in finance.”
This fundraising event featured a 50/50 raffle and Ohio State themed auction items. All scholarship donations were matched by an anonymous donor.
The host emcee was Jeremy Levine, a 1996 graduate, third generation member of Cleveland media representing Audacy, and communications co-chair for the Ohio State Alumni Club of Greater Cleveland board of governors.
